Shark Tank Homework Project

You have had the opportunity in Term 2 to explore Shark Tank. Your task this term will be to work on a sales pitch/presentation about a product or service of your interest. A few rules:

Rules About the Product:
- You may invent a product or service from scratch.
- You may take an existing product or service and change it slightly in order to improve it. If you choose to do this, you may not use the same name as the original product (e.g. a Band Aid improvement cannot be called Band Aid).

Groupings:
- You will work in groups of 1, 2 or 3 of your choice.
- You will not be allowed to swap groups with anyone else. By now, you should know who you work best with.
- You will be expected to have a joint Google doc whereby you share your ideas. Refer to what you have to hand in every week.

The Project Itself:
Your task will be to present your product to Mirs Elchaar, Mrs DiBona and Mr Lima (The Sharks) by the end of the term. Your initial pitch/presentation will have to be between 2-4 minutes.
- You will then have to ask for an investment (to borrow a certain amount of money) from "The Sharks".
- After that, you will have to either allow "The Sharks" to touch/use your product or provide an example of your service.
- You may choose to use a Powerpoint, Google Presentation or Prezi to help you, however you are not allowed to read from the screen. You will have to know your presentation so well that you can just talk about it, not memorize it.
- The Sharks will ask you questions such as:
* Why should I invest (let you borrow my money) in your product?
* How will I make money from your product?
* How many have you sold or how much money have you made so far?
* How long have you had the business?

How You Will Be Marked:
You will be marked based on how often you hand in your homework, how original your product or service is, how well you present and persuade The Sharks and how prepared you are.

What to Hand in Every Week:

Week 1: Answer the following questions in your homework book:
1. What have you learned about Shark Tank so far?
2. What must the presenters do in order to be successful?
3. What has let down some of the presenters from the episodes you have watched?

Week 2:

2. Create a Google doc with the title "Shark Tank - (the name of the people in your group). On this Google doc, just write down some of your ideas. No more than a paragraph is required.

Week 3:

2. How does your product or service work. Please write this as 1,2,3 etc.

Week 4:
1. Take a picture or draw a diagram and then take a picture of your product or service and upload it to your Google doc page.

Week 5 & 6: (Hand this in at the end of week 6)
1. In your homework book, write down your presentation. For example, write down what you will be saying when you come to presenting. We will expect no punctuation errors.
2. Write down an answer to when The Sharks ask you: "Why should I invest in your product or service?"

Week 7 and 8:
1. Create a logo for your product as well as a website for your product or service. For your logo, we suggest you use http://www.designmantic.com/  and http://www.wix.com/ for your website. Please upload the links to your logo and your website into your Google doc page.

Week 9 and 10:
These weeks you will be presenting to The Sharks.
